Here’s Matt’s effect to that whole white supremacist shirt thing:
Recently a photo popped up with me holding a shirt. Let me expound a little bit, I went down to Dale?s Harley-Davidson and did an autograph signing for them. I was asked to symbol a shirt then hold that shirt up for a picture. As I glanced at the shirt, I didn?t think it was malapropos at all, I just thought it was a bikers? club shirt. Turns out it wasn?t noticeably that innocent. So I just want you all to know that I don?t support that club whatsoever. I?ve gotten some emails with people saying they are disillusioned with me, I think the people that know me would not be so easily swayed. I?m a skimpy disappointed with some of the people out there who have sent emails and been so quick to feign the worst when I think it?s pretty apparent what I believe in.

Sweet, Sweet Wine

Her name is Sara. Does that accept the blame for your first question? Now what do you want next? The good expos or the not so good news?
First the good news. Yes, you are unequivocally right. Sara does want to reception with you. That’s why she is smiling right at you. Only you, relative Psycho. That is exactly why she is asking you to take those two bottles of wine from her shamed, delicate hands. She wants you to open that wine and then the two of you can pledge both bottles real fast.
The not so good news is that the two bottles of wine are prevailing to set you back $48.
Come on. Isn’t Sara worth it? Isn’t $48 a ungenerous price to pay for Sara to keep her shirt off?
Stop Looking At Sara
The wine is a red Zinfandel called V-Yoke Zin and it is being frankly marketed to the “affluent Harley motorcycle groupie” which, since we are speaking frankly, may exclude you.
Although, the wine may not seem so overpriced if you just think of it as two quarts of genuine Harley synthetic oil. Or, three true Harley double platinum spark plugs. Or, four fifths of the candid Harley-Davidson tee-shirt that Sara is not wearing. Or, a tenth of a night in a deep down crappy motel room in Deadwood during the Black Hills troop.
And, you understand, Sara goes crazy when she drinks this wine. Don’t suppress! Don’t stop! No, don’t lodge! Sara wants you to keep reading.
V-Twin Vineyards
Sara’s favorite wine is made by a Momma and Papa New Zealand in Santa Rosa, California called V-Twin Vineyards. Scott Del Fava is Papa and his the missis Lisa is Momma. They were both born and raised in Sonoma County and Papa Scott worked in the wine profession for 25 years before going into business for himself.
His last job was as a “pulverized wine buyer” in Vegas and he came to the conclusion that the “affluent Harley motorcycle aficionado” market could use another business one year when he and his wife went to River Run in Laughlin. Many of us have gone to Laughlin and asked, “How much! You’re kidding, factual? No? It really costs that much?” And, then concluded that we were in the askew racket.

Tattoos as Advertisements
Harley Davidson, Nike, Apple Macintosh, Piaggio, Mercedes-Benz, Budweiser, and every sports band ever assembled. What do these things have in common? Their logos are all branded on a LOTTA people’s graze. I see so many brand names as permanent tattoos on people’s outer layer. It’s always the most heavily-advertised logos, too. The type of logos we no longer even for words attached to in order to know what product they reflect. I guess I just don’t understand why someone would want to forever beatify a commercial product in such a deeply personal way.
I suppose I’m not so troubled by those who already have a lot of tattoos and then add someone’s corporate sameness to the lot. The concept of the tattoo is greatly downgraded for people like that, ironically. That is to say when someone already has 20 or 30 tattoos, what is one more? No, I’m more puzzled by those who have only a four of tattoos, or more importantly - only the one, and that one tattoo is a commercial. I’ve known a lot of people like this. A man who has the Yankees logo on his make an effort, one who has the Nike “swoosh” on his chest (in the same finding as on a Nike golf shirt, as he explained to me - as if that makes it more poignant… to non-stop advertise the company AND their merchandising), I know three people with a Macintosh logo (because I comprehend a lot of geeks, and the Macintosh Apple logo is the Nike Swoosh for geeks), two of which have it as their only tattoo. I even knew a crumpet who had the logo of a small-town music production callers on her ankle. The cream of this puzzling crop is the consumer who brands themselves with the Harley Davidson logo… yet these folks have never had a Harley Davidson motorcycle, or ANY motorcycle for that import. I just don’t understand that level of brand stability.
Let’s be pragmatic about this. If you really, REALLY love buying sneakers, and as a end result want to brand the Nike Swoosh onto your skin, you are effectively growing to be a walking advertisement for Nike for the rest of your life. Whatever your reasons for branding yourself in this form are your business, it’s your skin and your future. However, Tiger Woods wears the Nike logo on proper about everything he has because he is paid millions and millions of dollars to do so. Now, you’re not Tiger Woods, but as a for all-scarred consumer you should be getting something for your efforts in furthering these corporations. Before you get that tattoo, eradicate a letter to the company. This is a pitch, so be professional about it, and they might take you as seriously as they SHOULD be attractive you (unless you’re an idiot, of course, then they should just pass over your mail). Explain to them who you are and what you do, explain what you’re getting tattood with and where (because unless you’re a stripper, an arm tattoo is importance more than an ass tattoo). Then ask them what this type of advertising is worth to them. If you present to them the value of this decorum of saturation marketing in an adequate way, they will probably give you something for your troubles. Dialect mayhap as little as paying for your tattoo, or they might actually write you a warm fat check. After all, the reason you’re getting the tattoo in the first unsuitable is because of the millions and millions of dollars these corporate marketers are paying every year to have these images become part of our collective consciousness, your Nike Swoosh tattoo is substantiation that this image recognition campaign is working.
